 With
over 20 years of professional experience in veterinary medicine, Dr. Patricia
Pagel offers the patients and clients of Cole Park Veterinary Hospital a
dedication to animal wellness.
Beginning her career as a graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of
Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech (1986), Dr. Pagel has invested many years
in providing animal healthcare. She has a special interest in geriatric patients
and strives to improve their quality of life as the aging process unfolds. For
difficult cases, Dr. Pagel finds that it can be helpful to use an integrative
treatment approach including acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy, and orthopedic
manipulation. She is a certified veterinary acupuncturist (IVAS 1992). Dr. Pagel
is open to the use of essential oils and flower essences , especially for cases
that have an emotional component to the illness and she is open to (but does not
practice) homeopathy.
Dr. Pagel also enjoys working with “pocket pets” such as rabbits, guinea pigs,
hamsters, gerbils and the occasional beloved mouse or rat. (They are really very
sweet!)
She and her husband, Robert Smith, are the proud parents of 5 dogs, 3 cats and 3
